An event at the Republican National Convention on Monday was the first time US presidential candidate Donald Trump appeared in public since being injured in an assassination attempt last week.
According to the report of the news agency AFP, when Trump, wearing a bandage over his right ear, entered the hall where the ceremony was held, he received a hero’s welcome.
The report further states that Trump waved his hand to the supporters as he entered the hall to applause. At the same time, the American singer’s famous national song “God Bless the USA” was also playing in the hall.
A few hours before that, Trump was officially nominated as the presidential candidate of the Republican Party.
Trump is now expected to speak at the Republican convention on Thursday after this victory at the party level.
In this regard, he told the American newspaper ‘The New York Post’ that he intended to give a “very tough” speech on this occasion about the “worst Biden administration”.
But now he has ripped up that speech and now plans to deliver a speech that will “unite the country”.
“It was amazing. I mean, everything they went through, and then they came here because they really cared,” Susan Sweeney, a Republican affiliate of the Republican Party, told AFP.
