ADB Approves An Extra $48m For The Balochistan Water Project

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved an additional $48 million loan for the Balochistan Water Resources Development Sector Project (BWRDSP), the bank announced in a press release on Wednesday.

The project aims to improve water resources management in the Zhob and Mula river basins and support agricultural development in the region. Back in September, the Central Development Working Party had already cleared the Rs49.9 billion project. At that time, the funding breakdown was outlined as:

On Tuesday, the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) gave its final approval for the project.

Officials say the project is expected to enhance water management, boost agricultural productivity, and provide better facilities for local communities in Balochistan. Locals have welcomed the initiative, calling it an important step toward the region’s development.
