Acting President Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani Pledges Support to Business Community at MCCI Luncheon

Acting President Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani Lauds Business Community, Pledges Support in Upcoming Budget

In a significant gesture towards the business community, Acting President Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani affirmed that their concerns will be addressed in the forthcoming federal budget. Speaking at a luncheon organized in his honor by renowned industrialist Mian Tanvir A Sheikh, former president of the Multan Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCI), Gilani emphasized the pivotal role of the business sector in Pakistan’s economic development.

During his address, Gilani highlighted President Asif Ali Zardari’s consistent efforts to foster international investment in Pakistan, particularly from friendly nations such as China. He praised the president’s initiatives, notably the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), describing it as a transformative project for the country.

The event was attended by several notable figures including MCCI President Mian Rashid Iqbal, Romana Tanvir Sheikh, President of the Industrial Estate Board of Management Asif Majeed, PCGA Chairman Chaudhry Waheed Arshad, and former MCCI presidents Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi and Khawaja Younis. The business community extended their congratulations to Gilani on his election as Senate chairman and celebrated the victory of his son, Ali Qasim Gilani, in the NA-148 by-election.

Earlier in the day, Acting President Gilani arrived in Multan for a three-day official visit via a PIA commercial flight. He was welcomed at Multan International Airport by a delegation that included MNAs Syed Abdul Qadir Gilani and Ali Qasim Gilani, MPAs Syed Ali Haider Gilani, Kamran Marral, and Rana Iqbal Siraj, along with Additional Chief Secretary South Punjab Fawad Hashim Rabbani, Commissioner Multan Maryam Khan, Deputy Commissioner Rizwan Qadeer, and other officials.

Throughout his stay, Gilani is scheduled to meet various delegations to discuss furthering the region’s economic and social development.
