The tanker, carrying both fuel and cattle, exploded after the collision, causing widespread devastation in the Agaie area.
Fifty cattle were burned alive in the incident. Niger State Emergency Management Agency officials recovered 48 bodies, all given a mass burial. Search and rescue operations are ongoing. Governor Mohammed Bago urged residents to remain calm and emphasized the need for road users to follow traffic regulations to prevent future tragedies.
