ICC Rankings: Shaheen Afridi Becomes No.1 ODI Bowler
Shaheen Afridi topped the bowlers’ rankings for the first time during the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup held in India last year.
A statement issued by the International Cricket Council (ICC) said that Shahid Afridi performed brilliantly in the series against Australia, taking 8 wickets in three matches at an average of 12.62 and once again reaching the top position.
The star fast bowler moved up three places, overtaking South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj, who came in third.
Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan is second in the latest rankings.
After Shahid Afridi’s rise to the top position, Pakistani players now rule the ODI batting and bowling rankings.
According to the ICC, former captain Babar Azam was dismissed only once in the series against Australia and scored 80 runs, which further improved his position.
Pakistani fast bowler Haris Rauf has risen 14 places to 13th overall.
He was also named Man of the Series after taking 10 wickets against Australia, which is his career-best ranking.
According to the ICC, Naseem Shah has risen 14 places to a career-best 55th position.
The ICC had named Pakistani spinner Noman Ali as the Player of the Month for October 2024.
The player received this honor through a vote of registered fans globally on the ICC cricket website (icc-cricket.com), which was also selected by an expert panel.
The panel included members of the ICC Hall of Fame, former international players, and media representatives.
