The secretary of IBA Sukkur lab has written to the Sindh health minister, requesting seven plans to conduct MDCAT exam under its jurisdiction.
The letter, sent as the last date of the previous examination, calls for urgent appointment of key posts for PMDC and Health Department and urgent virtual meeting with IBA Sukkur, PMDC, universities and other relevant authorities.
As per the Sindh High Court’s order dated October 26, MDCAT will be conducted within four weeks. However, since IBA Karachi has opted out of the Karachi regional examination, STS has been tasked to conduct the examination on a provincial basis. According to the letter, the extended mandate requires court approval.
The STS Secretary mentioned the amount of Rs. 6,000 yuan per candidate must be deposited into the official account 15 days before the exam. He also requested that the candidates’ information be shared immediately on the PMDC portal and an understanding be established with the health department.
The letter stated that planning could only begin after receiving approval from the Ministry of Health. The STS noted that any delay in meeting these conditions could affect the MDCAT program and stressed the importance of taking immediate action on all issues raised.
The Director noted that seven days had passed since the SHC issued the directive, but the STS was yet to receive the official directive from the authorities. The organisation also asked each candidate to pay a fee of Rs 6,000, which should be paid from the official account one week before the exam.
To avoid confusion and for legal reasons, the Health Minister also requested the Health Minister to write to the SHC to allow STS examination in any district of Sindh, let alone Karachi. This was necessary because the original court order had restricted the jurisdiction of SIBA to areas outside Karachi.
Candidates applying for MDCAT through PMDC online portal are required to share their documents with STS within two working days and sign a memorandum of understanding with STS and health department for testing and activities”, the text added.
Secretary STS said that all work for the trial would commence only after approval from the health ministry and that STS would not be responsible for any delay in MDCAT if permission was not obtained in time and the seven conditions were not fulfilled.
