Washington: Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb will reach the US capital on Sunday to attend the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group.
Aurangzeb will lead a delegation that includes the Secretary of Finance, the Secretary of Economic Affairs, the Governor State Bank of Pakistan, and other key officials of the financial sector.
During their week-long visit, the Pakistani delegation is scheduled to hold high-level discussions with leaders of the IMF and the World Bank and attend important meetings of the annual gathering.
Bilateral meetings are also on the agenda, with talks planned between Pakistani officials and their counterparts from China, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and other allied countries.
The IMF and World Bank meetings will begin on October 21 and continue till October 26, with key ministerial meetings taking place from October 22 to 25.
Additionally, the delegation will hold talks with senior officials of the US Treasury Department.
This year’s meetings are of particular importance to Pakistan, following the IMF’s recent approval of a $7 billion loan aimed at helping stabilize the country’s struggling economy.
