According to a report on Tuesday, the Higher Education Commission (HEC) has made it illegal for students to enrol in private colleges’ illicit sub-campuses.
A notice outlining both legitimate and illicit sub-campuses has been released by HEC. HEC has only recognised 42 subcampuses from 20 institutions out of 109 universities and institutes as legitimate.
It has been decided that the Lahore campuses of Rafah University and the National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences are legitimate.
HEC issued the advisory, warning students not to squander their time or money by enrolling in unlawful sub-campuses since HEC will not recognise the degrees these schools provide.
A list of Pakistani universities’ and other higher education institutions’ unofficial or unlawful campuses has been released by the Higher Education Commission (HEC). HEC will not recognise the degrees earned by students enrolled in any degree programme at these institutions. Students are therefore advised not to apply for admission to these schools.
According to the HEC website, degrees from licenced universities and higher education institutions (HEls) in Pakistan’s public and private sectors are recognised, along with information on their approved campuses. The individual universities can verify the status of colleges connected to public sector institutions. Private sector hospitals are only permitted to operate through their accredited Main Campus and accredited campuses/sub-campuses that possess a HEC No Objection Certificate (NOC), as shown on the website. They are not permitted to give affiliation.
Pupils are advised not to enrol in any phoney, unrecognised, or unlawful institution. This list, which may also be seen on the website, includes all of the phoney, illicit, unlawful, and unrecognised institutions in Pakistan that have been discovered to far. Furthermore, any campus/sub-campus, college, branch, or outpost founded without HEC’s approval and not included on the website will be regarded as phoney, illegal, unlawful, and unrecognised, and will not recognise degrees earned from studying there.
