Kinza Bibi joins Pink Bus Service as Its First “Woman Driver”

Kinza Bibi made history by becoming the first female driver of Pink Bus Service after receiving four-wheeler driving instruction from the Sindh government. Kinza was one of the eighteen drivers who received training for the women-only bus service at Mehran Depot in Karachi.

Prior to this, the Sindh government had introduced two additional Pink Bus Service routes and declared that female riders could use the service for free for a fortnight. Four female Pink Bus Service drivers received licenses during the event from Faryal Talpur, the head of the Pakistan Peoples Party’s women’s division.

On a total of five busy routes, the Pink Bus Service is anticipated to serve thousands of women. Women conductors and drivers will now be present on the women-only pink buses.

The fact that female conductors and drivers operate pink buses defies stereotypes and promotes inclusivity in society as a concrete example of strong, independent women.

Set out on a guided tour of Karachi’s landmarks with Kinza Bibi. See the city’s varied landscape as you pass Cant Station, PAF Base Faisal, and Nata Khan Bridge. Stops at II Chundrigar Road and Regent Plaza provide easy connections, signifying accessibility and empowerment.
