30 Essential Gears for Trekking in Pakistan

We have provided you with three lists of things, equipment, and gear for trekking in Pakistan.

Items You Must Have While Trekking

List 1 includes the items and equipment that you must bring.

  • First Aid Kit (Diamox (Altitude), Dioralite (rehydration salts), antiseptic cream. Blister treatment, throat lozenges, plasters, Imodium (diarrhea treatment), pain relievers)
  • Hiking Backpack (Daypack) For 32-42 Litres, bring a hooded fleece jacket or a warm jumper.
  • Mittens or gloves
  • Gloves (thermal)
  • Headlamp with extra batteries
  • Hiking boots
  • sleeping bag (comfort rating: -16°C)
  • Sandals (sports) or old shoes (for crossing rivers).
  • Sun protection lotion (with entire block for nose, lips, etc.)
  • Sunglasses
  • Sunhat Sleeping mat or pad
  • Warm hat.
  • Warm jacket (down).
  • Water bottles, 1 liter (x2)
  • Waterproof jacket
  • Waterproof overtrousers
  • Antibacterial handwash
  • Shirts/T-shirts
  • Small towel.
  • Socks
  • Spare laces
  • Underwear (normal and thermal)
  • Trekking poles are highly recommended.
  • Wash bag and toiletries
  • Walking socks (two or three pairs)
  • Baselayer leggings (thermal).
  • Trekking trousers
  • Baselayer thermal shirts (2 long sleeves and 2 short sleeves)
  • Mountaineering gear (see “List 2” below)

Equipment You Must Have

List 2 includes trekking goods that necessitate crossing a high mountain pass. With the probability of encountering snow/ice on a given day.

  • Mountaineering footwear must be compatible with crampons. Minimum grade is B2.
  • Ice axe
  • Climbing harness
  • Karabiner/Carabiner (Screwgate Type x 2)
  • Climbing Helmet
  • Prusik loops X two (2) – (4 meters of 6 mm cord equals 2)
  • Sling (120cm)

Optional Items

This final list includes optional supplies that you could need on your trekking trip. You can choose items from the third list based on your personal needs.

  • Buff or scarf.
  • Small padlock (to lock your bag)
  • Camera
  • Insect repellent
  • Penknife (important: bring sharp instruments in hold luggage).
  • Repair kit (e.g., thread, needle, and duct tape).
  • Liner for sleeping bag.
  • Travel clothing
  • Bottle for peeing
