Prime Minister Directs Islamabad to Become a Pilot Smart City

The Prime Minister has directed Islamabad to become a pilot smart city, on which Federal Minister for IT Shaza Fatima said that the ministry has approved funding to provide fiber to all public schools, BHUs, and health sectors in Islamabad.

She said that hospitals, schools, and police stations will be fiberized in the next six to eight months.

Shaza Fatima also said that specific locations are being identified for free public Wi-Fi, and work is underway under pa public-private partnership to provide Wi-Fi in metro buses and other public places.

Speaking of full cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Shaza Fatima said that we will provide educational facilities in remote areas through EdTech.

She added that AI and emerging technologies will be included in the curriculum from sixth grade to kindergarten so that every child can get an education as per the Prime Minister’s wish. The project was also committed to expanding to Gilgit-Baltistan and other remote areas.

Shaza Fatima also announced that work is underway with the Health Minister on “One Patient, One ID”,

and the internet will be provided in all BHUs through telemedicine. She says that the facility of online consultation with experts will be provided everywhere.

Finally, Shaza Fatima said that the Prime Minister has formed a committee to include IT education in the curriculum, and it will be ensured that five lakh youth are trained in modern IT skills.

In this, two lakh children will be trained in Google, three lakh in Huawei, and two lakh in Microsoft.
