Trump Calls for Peace After Iranian Missile Attack

Iran has fired ballistic missiles at the US military base in Qatar, causing loud explosions to be heard in the city of Doha. These missiles were launched to target the Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar.

Tensions have also increased at the US base in Iraq, Ain Al-Assad, where the US military has activated the air defense system and instructed its personnel to move to bunkers.

Donald Trump’s statement

In response to the Iranian attack, US President Donald Trump said that Iran has completed its operation and will now move towards peace.

Trump added that Israel will also be encouraged to move towards peace and it is time for the world to take steps towards peace.

Trump said in his Twitter post that Iran had fired 14 missiles at a US air base in Qatar, of which 13 were successfully shot down,

while one missile was released because it was not heading in a dangerous direction. Trump also said that no American citizens were killed or injured in the attack and the damage was very minimal.

He also said that Iran had informed the US before the attack, which prevented casualties. Trump thanked the Qatari emir and praised his peace efforts.

Iran’s response

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard confirmed the attack, saying that it was a powerful and devastating attack, and they have sent a message to the US to be ready for any kind of retaliation.

According to the Revolutionary Guard, Iran’s Supreme National Security Council had approved the operation and that further attacks in the future could end the US presence in West Asia.

Global response

The US, UK and China have advised their citizens in Qatar to exercise caution following the Iranian attack.

The US has sent emails to its citizens asking them to stay in safe places, while Qatar’s Foreign Ministry has described the security situation as stable and said there is no specific threat.

Qatari Defence Ministry statement

The Qatari Defence Ministry said that the Iranian attack did not cause any major damage and that there were no casualties or property losses due to the missiles on the airbase.

Overall, despite the Iranian attack, there is talk of strengthening international peace efforts, and it is hoped that tensions will decrease and the path to negotiations will be paved.
