Heatwave to Persist Till June 12, Rain Likely After Eid

Islamabad: The Meteorological Department has warned of intense heat across the country on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, stating that the heatwave intensity will continue until June 12. However, a new series of rains is likely to start during the next week after Eid.

According to the Meteorological Department, from June 7 to 12, the daytime temperature in the upper areas, including Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir and Islamabad, will be 5 to 7 degrees Celsius higher than normal.

While an increase of 4 to 6 degrees Celsius may be recorded in the plain areas of South Punjab, Upper Sindh, and Balochistan.

Director General of the Meteorological Department Mehr Sahibzada Khan says that the weather will remain extremely hot and dry during the days of Eid, especially in Sindh, the temperature is likely to increase to a very high level.

He said that there is a possibility of rain during the next week after Eid, which will significantly reduce the intensity of the heat wave.

The Meteorological Department has advised the public, especially the elderly, children and women, to take precautionary measures.

It has been advised to avoid unnecessary outings during the day, protect yourself from the sun, and drink plenty of water.
