Gunmen intercept prison van in Kalat: kidnap five policemen
On the Mangchar National Highway, armed men rescued 10 prisoners of Gadani Jail who were being brought to Quetta for questioning during the blockade, while also taking away five police personnel, including a police officer. Two personnel escaped as they were in plain clothes. The rescued include one death row inmate and one lifer.
While 8 prisoners were in custody for drug offenses. Security forces have launched an operation to arrest the prisoners and recover the personnel.
According to police sources, an ASI of Hub Police, three head constabless and four constables were coming to Quetta from Gadani Jail in a private wagon on Friday morning. When their van reached Mangchar at 7 pm, armed men had blocked the Toqomi Highway.
During this, the armed men rescued the prisoners in the van and freed them, taking five police officers, including me, along with their weapons, while leaving the driver and the vehicle.
Two officers escaped as they were in plain clothes. Sources said that the two escaped prisoners, one of whom was sentenced to death and the other to lifeimprisonmento were to be transferred to Mach Jail.
Both the prisoners had killed their wives, while eight prisoners were imprisoned in Gadani Jail in drug cases and were under trial, who appeared in a Quetta court on May 5.
Sources said that the driver of the wagon reached the hub and informed the senior police officials about the incident.
Security forces and police have launched an operation in Mangchar to arrest the prisoners and recover the police personnel.
