US VP: Pakistan Responsible, India Must Avoid Escalation

Washington / Islamabad: US Vice President JD Vance has said that Pakistan is a responsible state and hopes that India will not respond to the Pahalgam incident in a way that will lead to further tension in the region.

According to international news agencies, the US Vice President, in an interview with a news channel, stressed the need for peace in South Asia and said that the Pahalgam incident should be responded to with caution and wisdom. He said that Pakistan is ready to cooperate in an impartial investigation into the matter.

It may be recalled that on April 22, 26 people were killed in a firing incident in the tourist spot of Pahalgam in occupied Kashmir, including foreign tourists.

India immediately linked the incident to Pakistan without evidence, which Pakistan strongly rejected and demanded an investigation by the United Nations or an impartial body.

US President Donald Trump and other world leaders have also condemned the incident, while US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has urged authorities in both countries to remain in touch and reduce tensions.

Meanwhile, the situation in the region has become more tense after unilateral actions and harsh statements by India.

Reports of firing and other clashes are also being received on the Line of Control (LoC).
