Pakistan Set to Make Waves in Ethiopia Trade Expo
Islamabad – Ethiopia’s Special Envoy and Ambassador, Dr. Jemal Beker, held a high-level meeting with Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Commerce, Jam Kamal Khan, at the Ministry of Commerce to finalize preparations for the Single Country Exhibition scheduled from May 15 to 17, 2025, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Also present were Prime Minister’s Trade Coordinator Rana Ehsan Afzal Khan, senior officials from the Ministry of Commerce, and the Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad. The focus was on enhancing bilateral trade and accelerating the exhibition arrangements.
The exhibition will be held alongside the high-level “Invest in Ethiopia” Business Forum (May 12–13), offering Pakistani exporters a strategic gateway into African markets.
Minister Jam Kamal Khan termed the exhibition a milestone under Pakistan’s “Look Africa and Engage Africa” policy, highlighting opportunities in textiles, leather, machinery, electro-medical devices, seeds, and food products.
So far, 63 out of 74 registered companies have confirmed participation. To encourage further entries, the Ministry and TDAP are working closely with chambers of commerce and considering a reduction in participation fees.
To facilitate timely attendance, the Ethiopian Embassy has enabled visa-on-arrival for Pakistani exhibitors. Additionally, direct flights by Ethiopian Airlines are strengthening trade connectivity.
Ambassador Dr. Beker confirmed full support from the Ethiopian government and revealed that trade delegations from nine African countries including Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Djibouti, South Sudan, Nigeria, and Ghana have also been invited — elevating the exhibition to a regional economic hub.
Both sides also discussed the first session of the Pakistan-Ethiopia Joint Trade Committee, agreeing to finalize its agenda soon.
Concluding the meeting, both dignitaries reaffirmed their commitment to scaling up bilateral trade and investment ties, declaring the exhibition a historic milestone in Pakistan-Ethiopia relations.
