Market Harassment Ends! Women Police Squad Takes Charge
In the last decade of Ramadan, Eid shopping has reached its peak, given which, women police squads have been deployed in various districts of Punjab for the protection of women.
The teams of this special squad, established on the instructions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, are patrolling the markets on foot, motorbikes and bicycles to provide all possible protection to women and children engaged in shopping.
Women police officers have started patrolling in major commercial centers of various cities including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Chiniot, Vehari, Khanewal.
The Dolphin Force and Quick Response Cycle Squad are also deployed in 65 major markets of Lahore,
where more than 4,000 police officers are performing special security duties.
Women paid tribute to the government’s initiative, saying that for the first time, practical steps have been taken to protect women in markets, making them feel safer and more satisfied.
