Starlink Granted Temporary NOC in Pakistan

The Pakistan Space Activities Regulatory Authority (PSARA) has issued a provisional NOC to Starlink, confirming that the company has fulfilled all regulatory requirements.

Following the clearance from the Ministry of Interior, the PSARA issued the NOC, paving the way for Starlink’s operations in Pakistan. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is expected to issue a license to Starlink in the next 2 weeks. Starlink has already submitted its application for a license to the PTA

. The company has provided its technical and business plans to the PTA and has successfully completed 3 stages of registration in Pakistan. Starlink has obtained registration from the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB).

The final stage involves obtaining registration from the PTA after which the company will be able to start its services. The PTA is currently reviewing the documents submitted by Starlink to ensure that the company’s services do not disrupt the existing network. Pakistan introduced its National Satellite Policy in 2023 and in 2024, it enacted the Space Activities Rules to strengthen space communications in the country. Starlink is set to expand internet connectivity across Pakistan, marking a new era in the country’s internet landscape. Federal Minister for IT Shaza Fatima Khawaja has said that all security and A temporary NOC has been issued to Starlink in consultation with regulatory bodies. Federal Minister for IT Shaza Fatima Khawaja, while issuing a statement on the temporary registration of Starlink, said that the registration of Starlink was ensured on the instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

She said that under the leadership of the Prime Minister, Pakistan is moving towards digital development. Shaza Fatima said that the Prime Minister’s instructions are a big step towards improving the internet system and the approval of satellite internet is a milestone for Pakistan’s digital future.

IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja said that the government has worked closely with all institutions and the Cyber ​​Crime Agency, security agencies, PTA and Space Authority have played a key role. She said that PTA will complete Starlink’s fee payment and other licensing requirements.
