World Bank to invest $40 billion in Pakistan

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif welcomed the delegation of World Bank Executive Directors.

The Prime Minister said that the partnership between the World Bank and Pakistan spans seven decades and this cooperation has led to the completion of several development projects in Pakistan that have played a significant role in the country’s development.

The Prime Minister added that the World Bank helped those affected by the 2022 floods and under the recent Country Partnership Framework, an investment of $40 billion will be made in Pakistan, which is welcome.

This investment will lead to development in health, education, and other social sectors, while an investment of $20 billion in the private sector will boost the economy.

The Prime Minister also expressed that institutional and economic reforms are progressing rapidly in the country and the economy is moving in the right direction.

The participants of the delegation praised the implementation of Pakistan’s ongoing reform program and appreciated the journey of economic reforms under the leadership of the Prime Minister.

The delegation will discuss economic development projects and investments in Pakistan,

which will include discussions on reforms in energy, industry, exports, and other sectors. The meeting was also attended by federal ministers and relevant officials.
