Increase Youth’s Role In National Development: PM
ISLAMABAD, Jan 28 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has termed the youth as the harbinger of change and said that there is a need to increase the role of youth in national development and policy-making. Youth can be empowered by promoting education.
Youth are the guarantee of a peaceful and prosperous future. The Commonwealth is the best platform for partnership among member countries in addressing challenges. The Prime Minister’s Youth Programme is a flagship program for the development and well-being of youth.
He expressed these views while addressing the Commonwealth Asia Youth Alliance (KAYA) Summit here on Tuesday. Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Prime Minister’s Coordinator for Climate Change Romina Khurshid Alam, and foreign delegates were also present at the ceremony.
The Prime Minister, while welcoming the participants of the summit on behalf of the government and the people, said that he was happy to host the Commonwealth Asia Youth Summit. The Prime Minister said that Pakistan is a founding member of the Commonwealth,
Pakistan attaches great importance to the Commonwealth and its institutions. It is an important platform that is a means of establishing partnerships and building consensus. 60 percent of the Commonwealth population is below the age of 30.
He said that the future of the Commonwealth countries depends on the youth. We have to develop the capabilities of the youth. We have to equip the youth with modern technology and technical education.
The youth are the guarantee of a peaceful and prosperous future. The Prime Minister said that 70 percent of the population of Pakistan is below the age of 30. We are well aware of this potential of ours and we can turn it into an opportunity that can play a full role in the development and prosperity of Pakistan.
The Prime Minister said that youth are not only the leaders of tomorrow but also the drivers of change today. Youth will have to be exposed to modern technology and technical education. There is a need to make them fully involved in the efforts of nation-building.
We understand the potential of youth. Youth is the harbinger of change. Their role in national development and policy-making should be increased. The role of youth in nation-building and progress cannot be ignored.
