Los Angeles Wildfires: Atomic Bomb-Like Devastation

A terrible fire in the forests of Los Angeles, California, USA, is still out of control after two days.

The fire has so far engulfed thousands of acres and more than 10 people have been confirmed dead, while more than 20 have been injured.

Extent of Destruction
The fire has burned about 33,700 acres, with areas like Pacific Palisades and Altadena being the worst affected.

The fire also caused widespread destruction in Calabasas and Hidden Hills Enclave, which is home to some of the most expensive properties in the world.

The homes of celebrities such as Kim Kardashian, Paris Hilton, and Anthony Hopkins have also been affected by the disaster.

More than 10,000 homes have been destroyed so far, and 180,000 people have been evacuated to safer places.

Rescue operations
Dozens of fire brigade teams, including the National Guard, and helicopters are continuously engaged in rescue operations to extinguish the fire. Strong winds blowing at a speed of 160 kilometers per hour are hindering the control of the fire. Water and chemicals are being sprayed by helicopters when the winds subside, but so far success has been limited.

Sheriff’s statement
“These scenes are like the dropping of an atomic bomb. No good news seems possible on the scale of the destruction.”

Environmental impacts
Residents in the areas affected by the fire are facing severe risks from polluted air and smoke, as a result of which several people have been transferred to the hospital.

Risk remains
Authorities have expressed fears of an increase in the death toll and have instructed citizens to stay in safe areas and cooperate with rescue teams.

Efforts to control the fire are ongoing, but its complete elimination will only be possible after the winds subside.

The wildfires in the state of California are being described as the worst in recent history, affecting thousands of lives and causing widespread homelessness.
