PTCL Finds Solution To Slow Internet Problems
PTCL on Thursday provided an update on the AAE-1 submarine cable issue.
The company announced that it has added “additional bandwidth” which has significantly reduced the internet slowdown.
However, PTCL said in a press release that some customers may still experience internet slowdowns related to Meta-related services (including WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram) during busy hours.
The company also said that a complete resolution of the issue is expected in the coming days and stressed that PTCL is working diligently with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to achieve the best possible resolution.
Last week, PTCL had said that teams were working diligently to deal with the internet service disruption due to a fault in the international submarine cable.
A statement issued last week said that users may experience slow browsing due to the international submarine outage, but teams are working diligently to resolve the issue as soon as possible.
The statement apologized to users for any inconvenience caused.
Pakistan continues to be hit by an internet outage, while social media platform X remains down in the country.
According to Ookla’s Speed Test Global Index for October, Pakistan ranked 141st out of 158 countries for fixed broadband — wired connections to homes or offices — with a median speed of 15.6 megabits per second.
In terms of mobile data, Pakistan ranked 100th out of 111 countries with an average speed of 20.61 Mbps and a median speed of 20.61 Mbps.
