PCB Contacts ICC Over Its Stance On Champions Trophy
Pakistan has officially informed the International Cricket Council (ICC) of its rejection of the hybrid model for the Champions Trophy.
According to sources, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) contacted us before the ICC Board of Directors meeting to be held on Friday and informed us that we are committed to hosting the tournament and will not involve any country in it.
Board sources said in unequivocal terms that if the International Cricket Council (ICC) has any acceptable solution to the problem, then it should inform us before the meeting so that we can come prepared and reach a final decision. It is not possible that the Pakistani team goes to India to play but they refuse to send their team here.
Earlier, Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Mohsin Naqvi had said in a late-night press conference that decisions would be taken in the best interest of Pakistan cricket and Pakistan’s best team would be fielded for the event.
On the other hand, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) through its media is using the political party protests in Islamabad and the postponement of Sri Lanka A’s tour as a justification for security concerns to snatch the hosting of the Champions Trophy from Pakistan or force it to adopt a hybrid model.
It should be noted that the International Cricket Council’s board meeting will be held on Friday to consider the future of the ICC Champions Trophy.
