Islamabad: 56 Pakistanis imprisoned in Sri Lanka for many years have returned home.
As a result of the efforts of Federal Minister of Interior Mohsin Naqvi and Federal Minister of Privatization Abdul Aleem Khan, 5 women and 51 male prisoners imprisoned in Sri Lanka for many years were brought back home on a chartered plane today.
According to officials, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi took a personal interest in ensuring the repatriation of Pakistani prisoners and raised the issue with the Sri Lankan High Commissioner while Aleem Khan bore the expenses of repatriating Pakistani prisoners from Sri Lanka.
Mohsin Naqvi said that he appreciates the role of the Sri Lankan government and the High Commissioner in supporting the return of the prisoners, and also thanked Aleem Khan for bearing the expenses of the return of the prisoners.
An elderly woman who returned to the country while talking thanked the federal ministers and said thank you that we have returned to Pakistan, we cannot forget your kindness throughout our life.
The returned prisoners said that thanks to Mohsin Naqvi and Abdul Aleem Khan, they have returned to their homeland today, in the conditions they were imprisoned in, thankfully we returned to their homeland.
