Mobile internet services in Quetta and most districts of Balochistan have been suspended for an additional 2 days, with 3G and 4G services now expected to remain inactive until November 18.
Additional Chief Secretary Interior, Hamza Shafqat, stated that the decision was taken due to a continuous rise in security concerns. He also mentioned that, based on recommendations from security agencies, the suspension could be extended further if necessary.
Previously, mobile internet services had been suspended from November 10 and were initially planned to remain blocked until November 16. However, due to ongoing security concerns, the suspension period has now been extended.
The prolonged internet outage has severely affected residents, online business operators, food delivery riders, students, and journalists, causing significant difficulties. Citizens have expressed serious concern over the continued lack of internet access.
The suspension has disrupted daily life, with residents facing challenges in accessing essential online services. The absence of mobile data has rendered social media platforms, voice communication apps, and other digital services inaccessible. This has created serious obstacles for individuals relying on online businesses and digital payment systems, complicating routine activities and causing widespread inconvenience.
