Indian Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan has expressed serious concerns over the defence industry, stating that the failure to supply weapons to the Indian military on time poses a grave threat to national security. According to him, defence reforms cannot be one-sided, and the industry must honestly disclose its actual capabilities.
According to Indian media, General Chauhan said, “If you fail to manufacture weapons as per agreements and do not deliver them on time, it reflects a failure in our industrial capacity.” He emphasized that many companies claim their products are 70 percent indigenous, but the reality is far from it.
It is worth noting that despite receiving billions of rupees in funding during Modi’s government, Indian defence companies have repeatedly failed to deliver weapons on time.
General Chauhan’s public criticism not only highlights internal mismanagement and poor planning within the Indian military, but also exposes the country’s failed military modernization and internal weaknesses in the region.
