180th Anniversary of YMCA Founding

The 180th anniversary of the YMCA’s founding, which took place on June 6, 1844, in London, UK, was commemorated by the Lahore YMCA, along with 130 other YMCAs worldwide.

There were leaders from a variety of backgrounds present during the Foundation Day event. A ceremony honouring these legends was also organised by the YMCA. Minister of Human Rights and Minority Affairs for Punjab, Ramesh Singh Arora, was the chief guest of honour at the event. Welcomed and giving a brief overview of YMCA operations to the guests were President Asghar Suleman and General Secretary Emanuel Sarfraz. In his introduction, Porgram Secretary Irum Nelson emphasised the recipients’ career accomplishments and presented the prize winners.

Journalist Shabbir Azam, MPA and PML-N Minority Wing chief Rahila Khadam Hussain, MPA Baba Failbus, Rashid Masih (posthumously), Gryphon James, Riffat Alam, Haji Naeem, Victoria Patrick, Kanwal Feroze, Ashraf Janjua, Rao Dilshad, Amjid Javed, Zulfiqar Awan, Tanveer Afridi, Jamil Bhatti, and Sumera Nazli were among the recipients of the awards.

Since it opened its doors in 1876, the Lahore YMCA has provided services to the local population. We offer youth training through a variety of programmes so they can provide for their families and for communities. We want to give women more authority and give young people the tools they need to succeed in life, Emanuel Sarfraz declared.

He stated that the youngsters will be taught the most recent computing skills related to the use of artificial intelligence by the YMCA. The Punjab Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz, was praised for her actions on behalf of the Christian community, and he expressed the hope that they would build trust and strengthen relationships between faiths.

The YMCA is the oldest and biggest youth organisation in the world, with 65 million members worldwide. This should be highlighted.

We consider our long history of social influence, youth empowerment, and community service as we commemorate the YMCA’s 180th anniversary. We have been characterised by tenacity, inventiveness, and unshakable commitment to our goal throughout our journey from modest beginnings to international renown.

We’ll promote your event on our social media platforms if your YMCA National Movement has any unique celebrations planned for YMCA 180.
