18 Workers Abducted As Armed Men Attack Construction Camp In Khuzdar
In a tragic incident, unidentified armed men attacked a construction company’s camp in the Khuzdar district of Balochistan, abducting 18 workers and setting several vehicles and heavy machinery on fire.
According to officials, the attack took place late Thursday night in the Kiliari area, around 80 kilometers from Khuzdar city. The assailants blocked the highway before storming the camp and the crush plant belonging to “D-Baluch Construction Company,” which was working on the Khuzdar-Washuk road project — a key part of provincial development plans.
Levies sources confirmed that at least eight vehicles, including heavy machinery, were destroyed during the assault. The kidnapped laborers reportedly belong to Sindh province and had come to Balochistan for work opportunities.
Company manager Zulfiqar Ahmed said the attackers initially took 20 laborers but later released two. “Eighteen workers are still missing, and efforts for their recovery are underway,” he stated.
Following the incident, security forces including the Levies, Frontier Corps (FC), and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) launched a large-scale search operation in the area, though no arrests have yet been made.
This is the second such kidnapping incident within a week in Balochistan. Earlier, nine workers were abducted from the Dasht area of Mastung, bringing the total number of kidnapped workers to 27 in just two weeks.
The Balochistan government has strongly condemned the incident and vowed strict action against those responsible. Officials and local leaders have expressed concern over rising security threats that could jeopardize ongoing development projects in the province.
