Shooting Near White House: Two National Guard Members Critically Injured

A shocking shooting incident near the White House shook Washington, D.C., when gunfire erupted just a few steps away from the presidential residence. Two National Guard members were critically injured after an unknown assailant opened fire without warning.

Police and security forces rushed to the scene within moments, sealing off the entire area. Law enforcement officials confirmed the arrest of a suspected shooter, who was taken into custody in injured condition. Eyewitnesses reported that the shooting occurred shortly before 2:15 p.m., with one National Guard member collapsing as shots rang out near Farragut West.

According to Arab media, the Governor of West Virginia initially confirmed the deaths of the two injured guardsmen but later retracted his statement.

Following the attack, the White House, I Street, and surrounding areas were placed under complete lockdown, with citizens instructed to avoid the vicinity. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that President Donald Trump had been fully briefed and was closely monitoring the situation.

President Trump issued a strong response, calling the attacker a “beast” and stating that anyone attacking the National Guard “will pay a heavy price.”

Meanwhile, the Department of Homeland Security, the FBI, and multiple security agencies launched a joint investigation. FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed that the attackers carried out an ambush-style assault, adding that both injured guardsmen remained in critical condition. He further assured the public that no additional suspects were at large in Washington.

In response to the emergency, U.S. security officials announced the deployment of 500 additional troops, while flights at Ronald Reagan National Airport were temporarily halted before normal operations resumed.
