Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Balochistan has announced the cancellation of the Quetta rally scheduled for Thursday, November 7, citing public difficulties and concerns over law and order.
The provincial president of PTI Balochistan stated that the decision to cancel the rally was made with the safety of the public and party workers in mind. Given the current situation, any political activity could have caused difficulties for citizens, so the party leadership made this decision after consultation.
A PTI Balochistan spokesperson added that the party will continue its political activities in a peaceful manner, and a new schedule for public outreach campaigns will be announced soon.
Political tensions have escalated in Quetta, the provincial capital of Balochistan. To prevent the proposed PTI rally, the provincial government has implemented strict security measures across the city, placing containers to block several main roads. As a result, a curfew-like atmosphere prevails, severely disrupting citizens’ daily routines.
Sources report that mobile internet services have been suspended in the city for security reasons, cutting off communication via social media and other online platforms, which has caused significant inconvenience for the public.
Key roads including Saryab Road, Jinnah Road, Alamdar Road, Spinny Road, and M.A. Jinnah Road have been blocked with containers, creating severe traffic congestion. Citizens traveling to offices and educational institutions faced long delays, while some shops and businesses remained closed.
Eyewitnesses report that police and FC personnel are deployed in large numbers at various entry and exit points. The government states that these measures are being taken to maintain law and order and prevent any untoward incidents.
