Maritime Vision 2047 Investments Under Review: Junaid Chaudhry

At the IMO Assembly, Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, met with the Saudi Minister of Transport to discuss strengthening maritime cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

The discussions covered new collaborations in shipping and port development, with both sides agreeing to explore long-term cooperation through a Memorandum of Understanding.

Under the Maritime Vision 2047 initiative, investment opportunities in the maritime sector are being reviewed, said Junaid Anwar Chaudhry. The possibility of collaboration between Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC) and Saudi Al-Bahri is also under consideration.

The ministers also discussed the potential for a sister port agreement between Karachi Port and Jeddah Islamic Port to enhance port-to-port cooperation. Both countries agreed to increase B2B maritime collaboration, and positive progress is being made regarding training opportunities for Pakistani seafarers on Saudi ships.

This meeting reflects a strong commitment by Pakistan and Saudi Arabia to enhance mutual maritime growth, investment, and training for professionals in the sector.
