IMF Set To Approve $1.2bn For Pakistan Tomorrow

The IMF Executive Board has scheduled an important meeting on December 8 to approve the release of $1.2 billion for Pakistan. The global financial institution has also issued the official agenda for the board meeting.

According to sources, the IMF Board is expected to approve $1 billion for Pakistan under the loan program, while an additional $200 million will be provided under climate financing.

Pakistan and the IMF reached a staff-level agreement on October 14, and Pakistan has already fulfilled all conditions required for the disbursement under the $102 billion loan program.

One of the key IMF conditions was the release of the Corruption and Governance Diagnostic Report, which Pakistan has now made public, clearing the way for the expected loan approval.
